Join us July 26, 2015 on the Detroit Riverwalk located at 1340 E. Atwater in Downtown Detroit from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for our 4th Annual Hike from the Heart 5K Walk.

The reality is, the shoes of poverty can be filled by just about anyone!

Last year we welcomed approximately 300 Walkers raising $190,000.00 to support Transition to Success programming designed to transition individuals and families out of poverty! (click here to learn more). We are striving to double our fundraising efforts this year to reach our goal of $300,000.00.

Our fundraising goal:

raised so far,

to go!

We are making a difference at Matrix Human Services:

  • • In a recent study funded by the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan, 216 returning citizens received Transition to Success™ services over a three year period. The recidivism rate back to prison was 7% compared to the national average of 43.3%, as indicated by the 2004 Pew Report (Kale Report 2012).

  • • Last year at the Matrix Center, in partnership with Forgotten Harvest, we distributed approximately 240,000 pounds of food in the Osborn Community to feed children and families.

  • • At Matrix Youth Assistance Program, 90% reported an increase in grades and/or grade point average. At Matrix Off The Streets youth shelter, 100% of youth exited the program safely back to their parents, guardians or another long term program.

  • • At Matrix Vistas Nuevas Head Start, 99.9% of children are up to date in immunizations and 100% have received hearing and vision screening, nutrition assessment, educational screening and other essential services for educational success.

The Transition to Success™ Model is living proof that when you give someone a dream…when you give them a vision and tools to accomplish that vision, it changes people’s lives.” Dr. Marcella Wilson, President, CEO Matrix Human Services
